Semester Reflection
Quality of work:
My quality of work for this semester definitely got better towards the end. In the beginning I didn't know what I was doing and was turning a lot of my assignments in later then the due date. Recently i have been more creative with my assignments and taking more pictures not just for the index print but to get the perfect picture for the assignment. I have started to pay attention to little details such as lighting, positioning, the background of the picture, and different angles. Also in the beginning of the semester I thought my first ideas were good enough and there was no need to try other things and i've learned in order to get the best results you must try many different things. I have been starting out with my first idea and then going off of that and coming up with more creative and better ideas in the process.
Effort:
I do actively take photos not just for this class but for the fact of I just enjoy doing it it has so much meaning and being able to go back and look at the pictures that were taken and the memories associated with them is a really powerful thing that a lot of people take for granite. When I shoot for projects I look at multiple locations as well as multiple subjects to make sure that my picture turns out exactly how I want it to. In the beginning of the semester i didn't plan or put much thought into my projects I just went out and got what I thought would just be ok for the project but recently i've been taking my photographs as well as my planning for them a lot more seriously and been putting much more effort into them. I for sure have a positive attitude towards my photography I love the feeling of being able to capture moods, feelings, and the over all feel of a setting in a simple but so complex picture.
Participation:
I have always been on time to class and have maybe been absent from this class once. I used to not use my class time very well and do everything last minute but i've realized that there's no point doing things half way when you can do something right and get that feeling of accomplishment and you have something unique to yourself that you came up with and you can be proud of. Along with that I didn't want to come up with things on my own so I worked with another person and our projects turned out similar and I stopped doing that so I can be independent and do my own thing and think for my self and make my project more personal to me.
Improvement:
I'm still trying to figure out who I am as a photographer as well as my style I have been trying out different styles of photography and trying to figure out what I am most inspired by. I want to improve technically by learning more about my camera and the different functions it has. Once I do that I can improve my picture qualities and expand my variety of how my pictures are taken. I am going to pay more attention to the little details in my photographs to create a more complex composition as well as an over all more meaningful and compelling photographs. I also am going to put more thought into the planning to make sure the concept of my photograph is clear.
Adjustment:
2nd semester I am going to make sure my projects are interesting and more planned and thought out. I am also going to use my class time better and make sure I ask questions and also am going to try to get inspiration from other more unique places and try to figure out what style works better for me and become more advanced in photography and using a camera as well as manipulating my photos to create the feel and the presentation I want.
